GENERAL INFORMATION FOR NEW MEMBERS
Competitions
- The Competition book in the Ladies Locker Room must be signed BEFORE playing in all competitions apart from Open and Mixed Events. Failure to do so will mean that you haven’t entered the competition.
- Drawn Events are competitions where an entry sheet is posted on the board and tee times and partners are allocated by the committee. The following information should be noted:-
- If your name is not on the board by the closing date and you want to play in the competition you should contact the Competition Secretary, who may enter you as a reserve.
- Under no circumstances alter the Tee Times or Draw once the Committee has posted up the Order of Play.
- Main competition winners will be presented with their trophies at the Ladies AGM in November.
Medals & Stableford Qualifying Competitions
- Our main competition day is on a Wednesday and our weekend day is usually Sunday but sometimes Saturday. We are allowed to play in the Wednesday and the weekend competitions. Tee times are pre-booked by the committee and there will be a time sheet displayed on the Ladies Notice Board. However, following the new EWGA rules(Jan 2009) you are allowed to play your Medal competition at any time on a Medal day, not necessarily in the pre-booked tee times, with any one with a CONGU handicap, acceptable to the Committee, marking your card. At the weekends only this applies to the Stableford competitions.
- Every 3 months details of Medal and Stableford winners will be displayed on the Ladies Notice Boards with prize money being awarded in vouchers for the pro shop.
- To enter for any of the Trophy Competitions ie Knockouts, Championship 5 qualifying competitions must have been completed the previous year.
Score Cards
- Enter the name of the competition, date, time, your name and handicap on your score card. The card must be signed by the player and the marker. Failure to complete the card correctly will result in disqualification.
- If you do not agree on the gross score per hole, then do not sign the card and contact the Competition Secretary immediately.
- Enter you scores on the computer in the Pro Shop and put you card without delay in the box in the Ladies locker room. Failure to comply will result in disqualification.
Handicap Information
Obtaining a handicap
- Submit to the Handicap Secretary Three scores played over 18 holes from the Red Tees to the normal greens.
- Observe golf etiquette and the Rules of Golf.
- Your marker must hold a handicap and, if you play in a 3 or 4 ball, she/he is allowed to mark two cards i.e. one for handicap and one for competition.
- These three cards will determine your handicap
- The handicap secretary may take account of a previous handicap you have held
- To assist you in getting your card marked there is a list in the Ladies Locker Room of members who are willing to play with you. This is also a good way of getting to know other members.
- If you are a member of another club, you must allocate one as your “Home” club for handicap purposes and notify the other club.
- Handicaps are allotted and altered in accordance the Council of National Golf Unions Unified Handicapping System.
Playing Handicap
- Your Playing Handicap is revised after every qualifying competition. It is therefore important that you check the handicap list in the Locker Room each time you play to ensure that you play off the correct handicap.
- If you play in an Open Qualifying Competition you must enter the name of that Golf Course, your score, the Par for the course and the Competition Standard Scratch as soon as possible in the “Open Book” in the Ladies Locker room. If you will be playing in another competition before your handicap can be revised and you know that it should be amended contact the Handicap Secretary.
- You will be asked to produce your up to date CONGU HANDICAP CERTIFICATE whenever you compete away from your Home Club. Computer printed certificates are valid as proof of your handicap and can be obtained at the Club Office. The certificate has to be less than three months old to be valid so you may need to get a new one even if your current handicap has not changed.
Supplementary Scores
- Supplementary scores apply only to Handicap Categories 2, 3, 4 & 5 and are for members that submitted six or less qualifying scores in the preceding period between Annual Reviews.
- Up to a maximum of ten Supplementary scores may be returned in the period between Annual Reviews although members are limited to only one per week.
- A player intending to return a Supplementary Score will be required to signify her intention by signing the relevant book in the Ladies Locker room BEFORE commencing play. Your completed score card must be placed in the box in the Ladies locker room – failure to do so will mean an increase of + 0.1.
